Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set the game clock on the MPCX2 Basketball controller?

The SET TIME key is only active when the clock is stopped. Press SET TIME, then use + or - to enter the desired number of minutes in the tens place (hold the key down for fast advance). Press SET TIME again to advance to the minutes ones place, then the tens of seconds, the ones of seconds, and the tenths of seconds, using + or - to set each digit. Press PERIOD/SCORE at any time to return to the main screen with the new time loaded. Fractions of a second are always cleared when a new time is set, and some scoreboard models may not display tenths of seconds. To change whether the timer counts up or down, use the Options menu.

My scoreboard won't update from the MPCX2 Basketball controller. What should I check?

Work through the Troubleshooting Chart. If the scoreboard or timer is ON but does not respond to the control, the control and receiver are not communicating: turn the control OFF, then ON to establish communications. If the control will not operate the scoreboard because it is out of range (poor line of sight or too great a distance), return to a closer location with direct line of sight and verify Signal Strength, run the Network Analyzer to check the connection, and if that does not work cycle power to the controller. If you cannot turn the time ON, the control may not be linked to this scoreboard (link it to the scoreboard or group from the Options Menu), it may not have synced up (power the control OFF, then ON), or the time may be at 0.0 and set to count down (set some time on the clock). If data won't change on the control, it may be linked to extra unwanted receivers or the wanted receivers may not be powered ON; use the Options Menu to check the receivers the control is linked to and the receivers on its list. If the scoreboard will not turn ON when the control is turned ON, cycle power to the receiver/scoreboard, and replace the batteries if the control signal is weak because the battery level is low. If the control is ON and its data is changing but the scoreboard/timer is OFF, check all switches, breakers and fuses, and check all cables and connections. If the scoreboard shows data in the wrong places or the horn sounds constantly, the control is not configured for the correct scoreboard model series; reconfigure it from the Options Menu. If the problem persists, contact the Nevco Service Department.

How do I start a new game on the MPCX2 Basketball controller?

This procedure assumes the control has already been configured for the correct scoreboard type and linked to the desired receiver(s), and that the receiver is powered ON before the control is turned on. Press ON/OFF; the control displays the firmware version and frequency while it establishes communication with the receiver(s) (up to 20 seconds), then the main screen appears. Press OPTIONS, which displays Clear Scoreboard Press (+), then press + to clear the scoreboard data. Press PERIOD/SCORE to return to the main screen; the period is automatically set to 1.

Why can't I set the time on the MPCX2 Basketball controller?

The SET TIME key is only active when the clock is stopped. If you cannot set the time, the time is running, so stop the time first. To stop the clock, press TIME OFF; the display shows OFF to confirm the clock is stopped.
